Reaching out to Gen Z on Social Media

Young generation

Generation Zers generally refers to people who were born between 1995 and 2012. Since Gen Z was exposed to so much technology as soon as they were born, they happen to know the ins and outs of social media, and are experts on their mobile devices. Gen Z is especially important to marketers because of their buying power and how relevant they are in today's population.

Snap Chat

Now, there are a few ways to directly target members of Gen Z. One thing members of Gen Z are very talented at is Snap Chat. We know sometimes it can feel unnatural to use Snap Chat as a marketing technique, but with this group it isn't as hard as you may think. Creating geotags and running contests through Snap Chat has been found to be an effective way to get Gen Z involved and connected to your brand.

Instagram

Another thing Gen Zers are becoming very good at is using Instagram stories. Although some say this is quite a similar feature to Snap Chat, millions of more people use Instagram stories now as opposed to Snap Chat. Instagram allows you to add stickers and filters to a photo, or create a "Boomerang" to let all of your followers know what you are up to.

Lastly, it's important to keep up with phrases and certain lingo that is popular among Gen Z at the time. If you can catch on to trends that are "cool," among Gen Z, communication becomes a lot more open, and it becomes easier to directly target them and truly understand their needs and wants. Overall, Gen Zers have a lot of influence on the marketing world, and it's important for companies targeting them to keep up.
