LinkedIn has continued to grow online as the "professional network." It allows people to search for careers, connect with past and future coworkers, and meet people that may share similar interests. With so many people joining LinkedIn in this day and age, how will you make your profile stand out from your competitors? Here are a few things you can do:
Ask for a recommendation
If you have a LinkedIn profile, you most likely have been in the workforce at some point in your life thus far. Therefore, you have had a boss or coworker that can talk you up on your page! If you feel comfortable, reach out to them and get them to write a recommendation on your page that people can be impressed by when they are scrolling through your profile.
Perfect your summary
Your biography on LinkedIn is the VERY first thing that people will see when they come across your profile. Make sure your summary is compelling and unique so that others can get a clearer idea of who you are and what you stand for. Add something to your bio that shows you are different from others and have something powerful to bring to the table.
Follow (and accept) the right people
One great thing about LinkedIn is that it allows you to connect with personal friends AND other people within your industry that you may not have known before. Don't just accept people that want to connect with you because you want it to look like you have a lot of connections. Accept people for a purpose, and scope out their profile first to make sure they are legitimate.
Are you in the process of hunting for a job right now? Try giving your LinkedIn a makeover and take advantage of all of it's features!
