Happy Social Media Day (June 30)

Set your calendars ring up your alarms because in about two weeks, it’s officially Social Media Day. Arguably, our most favorite day of the year. On July 30, 2010, Mashable officially launched Social Media Day to honor and celebrate its impact on the world. In their words, “Today, social media is the heart of global communication; and since its inception, Mashable’s been using social media to connect between cultures, movements and super-fandom.”

In such a short period of time, social media has tremendously reshaped the way that individuals, groups and organizations interact with each other. It’s only fitting that we take a day to appreciate the gravity of its influence. To truly grasp how impactful this technology is, we’ve gathered some surprising statistics from Sprout Social about different social media platforms.

If you’re inspired, check out some of these apps that are super helpful for social media professionals. These are some of our favorites:

G-Suite

G-Suite is Google’s integrated suite that hosts incredibly useful apps that will guarantee productivity. They have Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and more. Each app serves a different purpose - for example, you can build presentation decks on Google Slides, or manage spreadsheets on Google Sheets. The best part? It’s entirely collaborative, making it really easy to work with a team of people. It also allows you to work on documents from the convenience of your laptop, phone or tablet. If you’re constantly on the go, this is the perfect app for you!

Slack

Slack is a group messaging platform that has several features, allowing a simple and effective communication stream. It’s perfect for businesses or teams to reach each other during and outside work hours (although, you can set a “sleep” function that mutes any messages outside of your normal working hours). You can message individuals directly, or create separate conversation threads for specific teams, departments, or clients. You can download Slack on your laptop and your phone, so you’ll always stay connected with your team.
