Guess what social media fans? Beginning this August, Instagram introduced a totally new feature called “Stories.” Stories is almost identical to the Snapchat feature, but gives people a new way to show content that expires.
With this new feature, users can share content that is only available for 24 hours. At the top of your page, Instagram features small profile bubbles for your favorite accounts. Here, every profile shows a short 10 second clip of their story. The only difference between Instagram’s stories, and Snapchat is the ability for you to swipe left and rewind. Instagram also ditched “liking” or “favoriting” stories. Instead, you can simply reply to a story in a direct message.
Another Change
Another big change, is that public accounts allow people to watch your story without following you. If your account is private, you can decide who sees your stories or not- even if they already follow you.
So what does this all mean in the marketing realm? It means that content sharing is more interactive than ever before. This revolutionary change means that businesses will no longer be able to get away with posting just photos on Instagram. It also means that social media is going to play a much larger role in our lives, requiring more personalized content.
